Introducing Charge Anytime - next generation EV charging

Updated on 25/08/25 by Chris_OVO:

Here’s the latest on our new electric vehicle charging type-of-use plan

We’ve relaunched Anytime as Charge Anytime. It’s not only a new name, we’ve made some updates to the product and we want to tell you all about it…

See our Charge Anytime product page here

What are the headline facts about Charge Anytime?

  • Smart charge your electric vehicle for 7p per kWh whenever you need to,
  • Now available to be added to any OVO plan, including electric-only households,
  • Intelligently optimises your charge for when the energy is at its greenest.*

Am I eligible?

You can see all eligibility details in our Charge Anytime page here.

  • You must be an OVO Energy customer and have an eligible car or charger. We’re constantly looking to open up the eligibility of this product to more EV models and chargers, so if you don’t see your tech here, keep an eye on our page.

Our customers and trialists have really played a huge role in shaping Charge Anytime, not least the members of this forum. Leave a comment below if you have any questions, feedback and to let us know if you’ll be adding Charge Anytime to your OVO plan.

*Our smart tech will aim to charge your car at a time when the grid has more renewable energy in it. Meaning it’s less likely your EV will be charged by energy from fossil fuels.

7p a KWh is quite a temptation and as yet I have found that it works. Octopus are the next lowest at 7.5p but I do not think that is anytime.

No, theirs is set overnight hours

I have charge anytime in ix3. It’s not exactly anytime. Because what happens is you say when you want the car. Charged and it does the rest but it stops and starts throughout the day and night.  If you want immediate you press emergency charge but it’s at your full rate.

octopus is only at night but I believe they give you something during the day too.

Had my car delivered on Wednesday set up myrenault, in the car too, and ovo charge anytime.
Set time to be ready by, set % charge, plugged in and left the car. I get an orange flashing light on my car charge port which goes off if charge doesn’t start straight away.
Charge Anytime app says that next charge will be after 22:00, nothing starts and then it says planning next charge and again nothing happens. 2 nights no charge.
if I start it manually at night it then syncs with charge anytime and charges at the lower rate but I thought the idea was to set it in the app, plug in and leave it to be charged in the morning. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or settings in the car are wrong?

There is currently a fault with the Renault integration. It’s being looked into iirc.

Hi all,

We have had Charge anytime for a couple of months now, and have received the monthly rebates for the charge anytime tariff. However i am finding it hard to work out how much we spent each month on charging the car. Am i missing something or is there no easy way?

Many thanks in advance

James

Hi @jameshammond472 ,

That should either be in MyOVO, the Charge Anytime app or potentially the charger app depending on your setup.

Hey @jameshammond472

Welcome to the Forum.

Like Blastoise186 mentions, this can depend on your set up. Do you connect to Charge Anytime via a compatible EV or is it the charger that’s compatible? This will determine how you’d view that information. Let us know and we can try to help further.

We’ve got lots of topics on Charge Anytime that may be helpful too, I’ve linked to a few of these below;

This Charge Anytime FAQ may also be helpful for you, and you can contact the team via email if needed at chargeanytime@ovo.com.

@jameshammond472  if your car options let you add unit price of electricity that's the easiest way.

If not. You need to do the math.

Unit price - £0.07 = saving KW price

Total save this month / saving KW price = KW charged.

KW charged x 0.07 = total cost to charge in the month.

E.g. unit rate is £0.275 - £0.07 = £0.205

Total saved this month £58.20 / £0.205 = 283.9 KW

283.9KW x £0.07 = £19.87 to charge your car this month.
