Important news for Indra charger owners - it’s time to set up your new Indra app

Updated on 29/04/25 by Bradley_OVO: We've new added troubleshooting steps below to help you if you're having trouble getting set up

If you own an Indra charger, you can now update your EV charger apps. This is because from 8 May 2025, the access to the current Indra web app will be gradually phased out.

The new Indra mobile app will work seamlessly with Charge Anytime, allowing you to keep all the great features. Like your discounted smart charging rate, and being able to lock your Indra Smart Pro charger.

Please follow the steps below so you can successfully migrate your Indra app.

Already set up on the new Indra mobile app?

If you've already set up an Indra account on the new Indra mobile app, follow Step 2 below to pair your charger with Charge Anytime.

Step-by-step guide

1. Set up your charger on the Indra mobile app (you’ll need to be near to your charger)

  • Download the Indra app on the App Store or Google Play, then create an account
  • Create a new account (you’ll need to do this even if you had an account on the legacy Indra web app powered by Kaluza)
  • Set up your vehicle
  • Add your charger - on the ‘Schedule’ screen, select ‘No schedule’
  • Choose OVO as your supplier
  • Update your charger if prompted, then click finish

2. Pair your charger with Charge Anytime

  • Download the Charge Anytime app (if you don’t already have it) on the App Store or Google Play
  • Follow the instructions in the Charge Anytime app to log in with your OVO account, add your Indra charger, and link your Indra account

Once you've completed these steps, you can use the Charge Anytime app to schedule your charging sessions, and the new Indra app for all other charger management tasks.

It’s a good idea to download your charging history from the current Indra web app, if you need it. You might not be able to access this after 8 May.

Now that your charger operates with the Charge Anytime app, some of the features will be different. For example, the scheduling optimiser (which is still powered by Kaluza) needs to reset between charging sessions. Otherwise a new schedule won't be loaded and your vehicle won't charge.

Find all our troubleshooting tips below:

If experiencing an issue when charging multiple vehicles:

Once you’ve charged one vehicle, unplug it and wait for 15 minutes to allow the optimiser to reset. After that, you can plug in your other vehicle, set your “ready by” time, and the app will take care of the rest.

If experiencing an issue when charging a single vehicle:

If, after 20 minutes, your EV doesn’t charge when it’s plugged in, we’ll assume the EV is fully charged and remove schedules from the charger.

If the app initially shows schedules when the EV is plugged in but then stops displaying them after the EV stops charging, please:

  • Check for any settings in the EV that could restrict charging.
  • Unplug the EV for 15 minutes, then plug it in again to reset the charging schedules.

Still experiencing issues migrating to the new app or charging in the new app?  Try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Make sure that your charger is now linked and showing within the Indra mobile app - you can download the app from Google Play / App Store
  • Make sure your charger is online. If the LED status is solid white, the charger is online and connected to the charging platform (the Indra app will also confirm this). If it’s offline, the charger will be flashing purple (the Indra app should also confirm when the charger is offline). When the charger is offline, smart charging/charging via schedule won’t work. We recommend turning your charger off for 30 mins for a full reset. If this doesn't work, you'll need to contact Indra support.
  • Make sure there are no schedules set in your vehicle, your vehicle app or the Indra app.
  • Unplug for 15 minutes to let our smart charging optimiser reset.
  • Make sure your charger is unlocked - the settings section of the Indra app gives you the option to lock or unlock your charger.
  • Make sure the vehicle is in a state ready to accept charge before plugging in - you can ‘wake up’ an EV by unlocking, opening and closing a door, then locking again prior to plug in.
  • Plug in, set a new ready by time and let the Charge Anytime app do the rest.

Experiencing issues with Charge Anytime if you’ve got a Tesla:

If your vehicle isn’t charging to full

To support local electricity networks, we would previously adjust the amount of energy used when charging EVs at certain times of the day depending on demand.

Instead, we now pause your charging at these times, before resuming it again later.

Some vehicle brands, like Tesla, interpret the pause as the charging session being finished and fall into sleep mode. Our attempts to restart charging are then rejected.

Putting your Tesla in Sentry Mode stops it from falling asleep and allows Charge Anytime to continue pausing and resuming charging as intended.

We’re here if you need us

If you’re having issues setting up the new Indra app, you can call Indra on 01684 770 631 or email support@indra.co.uk.

If you’re having issues connecting to the Charge Anytime app, you can email us on chargeanytime@ovo.com or call 0330 175 9678 and select option 2 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).

I can definitely get that passed on as feedback to the teams. I suspect it can be quickly fixed.

Morning @robn and welcome to the OVO Forum! I’ve awarded your EV badge 😁.

@robn, @stead sorry for the issues you’re experiencing. I’d recommend having a look at this Forum topic, as there are a few people discussing issues and fixes:

It might be worth you contacting Indra:

They can be contacted by phone using 01684 770 631, or by email at support@indra.co.uk (https://www.indra.co.uk/contact/).

Our own Charge Anytime team can be contacted at chargeanytime@ovo.com.

I hope this helps!

Done! That suggestion has been sent to Indra. They’re looking into it.

They wanted to mention that they’re also working like mad to get everyone migrated over at the moment and are also working pretty hard to get everything stable. If you spot things that seem a little wonky, try again later as I’ve heard there’s a LOT of load putting pressure on their systems at certain parts of the day.

Please don’t forget they’re also only a small team. They’d like to thank everyone who’s been patient with them as it means a lot to them.

Thanks, set up now - to a degree, it’s quite frustrating because sometimes it “smart charges” sometimes it doesn’t charge at all, I don’t change anything. Not sure if it’s the OVO app, cars app or Indra app - any help appreciated - getting annoyed now.

I was chatting with Indra this morning. They said their platform is having some stability issues at the moment which they’re working on - mainly due to the sheer volume of migrations from the legacy system.

They’re on it but please keep an eye out for now.

Thanks, hopefully that’s it. I thought it was sorted, had several successful trials and everything worked great. Work up this morning expecting a full charge - exactly as it was when I plugged it in yesterday lunchtime.

Finally managed to sign up to Charge Anytime and link my charger after much frustration and time spent yesterday pm with many unsuccessful attempts. It really was not a straightforward process, with OVO referring us to Indra for support and Indra referring us to OVO for support, neither of which was available over the weekend of course. Have given Indra my feedback accordingly.

When I say I have managed it, I haven’t actually tried it yet using the schedule to charge my car overnight but fingers crossed.

It’s still not working, any news?

I’m confused and don’t know if we’re set up correctly or not! We’ve got the new Indra App, no problems there. Downloaded the OVO Charge Anytime App, put our details in, it wants to link the charger to the OVO account but it can’t find the charger. OVO chat said to call the Charge Anytime helpline, Charge Anytime said to call Indra. Meanwhile, the car charged fine last night, but will we get the credit?
