Am I the only one who is enjoying the challenge of reducing electricity use between 4 and 7?

I am loving having to do nothing after getting in from work and being rewarded.

Also, the gas central heating really does use quite a lot if you let it, mainly the water pump and fans. So I have it kicking in 3-4 to get the house warmed up a bit, and then off till 7PM when it kicks in again. Its another 85-140 W that isn’t there 4-7PM.

If you add up the fridge and boiler its up to a 200-250W reduction for that period. With those switched off, the background house usage can drop below 100W if nobody is home. Obviously it’s more as soon as anyone is back from School/Work or working from home., but it does make a big difference.

Power move has been easy as a household without children and both of us working from home. It’s also probably changed our eating habits for the better in terms of the primary meal of the day has to be consumed before 4PM and we tend to have a snack or soup as our evening meal. Which is my way of saying I suspect your best reference stories will be about how families have done it because the thought of that complexity is a story more likely worth telling!
