Aren’t you mixing things up a bit? The ‘saving money’ claim refers to the difference in cost between powering a car with petrol or electricity. Where do you see someone saying that electric cars save electricity? They obviously don’t!

There’s another saving as well, though: petrol and diesel are fossil fuels, so every mile travelled pumps greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Some of our electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels, but nowadays the proportion is falling. In October, it was less than 30%. Saving the planet.
