Charge Anytime won’t connect to BMW

Hi,

I’ve been trying to setup Charge Anytime to connect with my BMW X5 50e.

I don’t have a compatible charger but the car is listed as compatible.

Ive downloaded the Charge Anytime App and successfully logged in. It all works up until the point where I need to log into my BMW acccount to give permission. The App appears to direct me towards the BMW USA site (I’m in the UK). I’ve setup an account for the USA site to see if this helps but now just get an error.

Ive logged into my BMW UK account outside of the app to see if I can give permissions but can’t find anything.

Ive emailed the Charge Anytime team but the only response was to contact BMW. BMW customer services have no idea what I’m talking about. I emailed OVO back and explained that and I think the issue is probably to do with Kaluza or Enode and where the app is directing me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey @Chris03026132

I heard back from the Charge Anytime team and they’ve gave the following advice:

“We're aware of an issue that affected BMW and Mini customers, which redirected them to the USA site when trying to link with Charge Anytime. This has now been resolved and you should be able to sign up to Charge Anytime.I recommend deleting the app and the app's cached data, redownloading the app and trying again.”

Could you give this a try when you have the chance and let us know if it worked for you? You can also speak directly with a member of the Charge Anytime team by:

  • Calling 0330 175 9678 (Option 1 new customers/option 2 existing customers)

  • Email via chargeanytime@ovo.com

  • Webchat, click the link then the green chat icon at the bottom right of the page

I hope this helps!

I’m not sure if mine was redirecting to BMWusa or not, but it wouldn’t connect every time I logged in with my BmW credentials. On Friday I contacted OVO who said wait 24hrs as sometimes Mini take a while to make the necessary adjustments at their end, to no avail. The follow up recommendation was to phone Mini which was my plan, but I tried one last time this Monday morning and it worked fine. So I guess BMW/Mini need to accept the changes manually before it can happen. Hope this helps and isn’t covered elsewhere.

That’s really helpful @Rawce, thank you for sharing. I’ve assigned your profile an electric vehicle badge so that other EV owners can identify you 😊
