Are the Power Move Flex trial event times achievable?

Honestly, are they people who set the Power up/down times serious?  Today we were asked to power down from 12 noon to 2pm!  I am certain that the majority of people are cooking their Sunday lunch over this time period, so how can we use less? i am certainly not going to move my lunch!  Quite frankly I have given up trying, as all I seem to get is 4p, maximum 10p.  It is not worth the hassle.

Over the 18 months, Power Move Flex (as part of CrowdFlex) has shifted 864,700 kWh's and paid out over £1.02 million in bill credits.

We've had over 100,000 customers take part over the 3 trials in which Power Move Flex helped match the demand to the power being generated. So homed used cleaner, greener energy.

The trials were aimed at understanding how households can contribute to a greener electricity grid. The learnings we gathered from being part of these trials will be essential for the Electricity System Operator to plan for the future of the electricity grid, and how our customers can play a role in this. Together we've been making energy better for people and the planet.

Our current trials are now closed, and we'd like to thank our users for their participation.

To be honest most of the Power Down events are going to be peak times and most Power Up is going to be when there is little load on the grid. It comes as no surprise that they are most likely to ask for a Power Down when most people are likely to want to use power the most. The only exception could be those who happen to have a heavy load on at that time, like charging a car, where delaying the power use is not critical. Personally I found the monthly Power Move challenges much easier to meet as you can plan your life around them and get a greater reward.

…

I would like to hear if anyone on here has different companies to supply their fuel and provide their Feed-In Tariff, and if it works smoothly.

My daily energy supplier is different to my FIT provider. They were the same company originally but I’ve moved supplier but not FIT provider.

It all works ok and I’ve even got a different provider for my solar export (which is decoupled from my FIT generation)

Hi,

Going  slightly off topic yet again🙄, I am a very happy OVO customer and have had a fixed rate for over 4 years (my first fix was during Covid), I also have a Vaillant aroTHERM Plus 10kW VWL 105/6A 2 ASHP and have a discounted rate from OVO of 0.15p kwh in stead of 0.237p kwh, “in partenership with vailliant” using the AirSource Plus tarriff.

Answering the quote above from Jasmin10,

I also have a 2.4kwh Solar PV that was fitted by a third party so I don`t get the “OVO customer only tarriff” ☹️

I export my surplus energy using Scottish Powers SmartGen SEG tariff at 0.12p kwh, this is the best rate I found at the time of having my panels fitted that didn`t require you to buy energy from them 😁,

the export is all done automaticaly using my OVO smart meter,

I started exporting

SOLAR to SP on the 06-11-2024 and my total system generation is 566kwh,

I have six panels that are south east facing.

Sorry for hijacking your post.

Hi @Jasmin10 like you, I have a FiT provider rather than the newer SEG payments.  Before OVO, whom I’ve been happily with since getting transferred over from SSE, I switched energy supplier three or four times, but never the FiT side of things. So apart from the very early days when my energy supplier for the first few Solar years was also my FiT payments provider (probably originally nPower I think), my various energy providers over the last ten years or more have been totally separate from my FiT provider.  Absolutely no problems at all.

Walt. 2013: 3.2kW PV East/West + Fronius IG, >26MWh (of which, to date mid-2025, 20MWh exported). 2023: 2.4kWh LiFePo4 battery. 2024: Tadö wireless smart stat v3; Electriq split unit 2.6kW AAHP (“air conditioner”).
