2 cars (1EV 1 PHEV) sometimes need to charge both but OVO told me to delete charge anytime app

I have a Ohme charger and a 3 pin that came with the PHEV. I deleted the app as requested, but realise that when charging both, the 3 pin the PHEV won't get the charge anytime as they asked me to remove the connection.

Is this the correct thing to have done or should I reinstall the app etc.

From 15 July Ohme chargers will no longer be compatible with Charge Anytime. We’ve recently updated the technology behind Charge Anytime. This is so we can keep making improvements and create new products that reward customers for driving EVs.

 

It's not been possible to integrate Ohme with this new technology. If you have an Ohme charger you’ll still be able to sign up to Charge Anytime by connecting with an eligible vehicle. We’re constantly looking to open up the eligibility to more EV models so if you don’t see your EV here, keep an eye on our page.

Just had a chat with the team. They’ve confirmed you can only use ONE method at a time - not both. You’ll need to delete the Charge Anytime app to resolve the conflicts it’s causing. Doing so will stop getting you credits for the PHEV, but you probably weren’t getting them for it anyway because of the potential conflicts having both methods can cause.

 

You can still get the CA rate for the PHEV provided it’s plugged into the Ohme charger.

Hi ​@GrahamMcN ,

Couple of notes here:

  • Granny Chargers e.g. the 3-Pin one you’re using for the PHEV aren’t designed for regular use as your primary charger - they’re really more for emergency use when you have no other option
  • Your best bet based on the setup you’ve got is to run all EV Charging via the Ohme Charger and NOT use the Charge Anytime app - this will be more reliable even if it means a bit more juggling

Glad to see one of our volunteers have already stopped by with some helpful advice.

 

As they’ve mentioned, setting the charger up via it’s own app, the Ohme app in this case, will be your best bet. We’ve got a handy topic all about setting up a compatible smart charger:

 

 

Ohme have made step by step instructions on how to set up Charge Anytime that may also be helpful.

It is all set up from that pint of view already and that is not the issue. 

The majority of the charging is done by the ohme charger- no issues.

However once or twice a week we need to plug both in. When this happens the PHEV 11kw/h battery is on the 3 pin plug and was getting the anytime rate via the app and syncing with the volvo. 

Now that we have been asked to delete the app, if I understand it right, we will mo longer get the better rate for the PHEV. Is that correct?
