Moving home and keeping previous home for a while- Can I set up second OVO account?

Hi,

 

I am moving to a new house soon, but will keep the old house for a while until it is sold. Can I open a second account with OVO at the new house and then close off the old one when it is sold, likely in a few months time?

Yup! That’s absolutely possible. The easiest way is to sign up at the new place and leave the existing account open at the old place while both properties are in your control. If the new house is supplied by anyone other than OVO and you want OVO to be the supplier, you’ll need to sign up with the existing one first to take on control of the supply and then do a switch request once you’ve gained control.

 

On the day you sell the old house and hand over the keys (or a few days ahead - you’ll probably know the best time for this), grab a final Meter Reading just before you lock up, then use the Moving Home tool in MyOVO to commence the shutdown process on the old account. Once you pay that Final Bill off, it’ll close completely.

    If the supplier at the ‘old’ house  is not OVO then you could just leave that as is and open an account with OVO at the ‘new’ property.

    You still have to pay the bills at both properties, but you have seperate accounts at each property and it's your choice who you pay the bills to at each one.

      Best of luck with the move - I hope it goes well! You can find out who the current supplier of the new place is on the Ofgem website here and, if you do want to switch over to OVO, then just follow the link ​@Blastoise186 shared. If you switch over to us and start a second account, make sure to ask our Support Team to link the accounts together. This way, you’ll be able to see both OVO accounts under one login, and you won’t have to use separate email addresses and passwords.
