Underfloor heating and two smart meters.

Hello, Some time ago I put a post on here regarding underfloor heating with a smart meter. As I said I have two meters one of which is a radio signal one which is permanently connected and has not shut down with the switch off. I did have a smart meter booked but as they wanted to put me on economy 9 I after some thought cancelled it. I have since found out that a neighbour had  a similar set up to me but is not with Ovo. His provider has fitted two smart meters, one for standard electricity and one for underfloor heating and hot water. This seems like the best arrangement for myself. Is this something that Ovo can and would do. Thank you all.

f the meter for their heating is switching rates at set times then it’s already a multi-rate meter and the other meter is superfluous.

Or if something else is controlling the heating/water on a timer then what’s the point of the second meter?

IF both are standard meters then there should be no price difference in the rates charged for electricity by each meter.
In fact as each meter would have a separate serial number/MPAN there would be two standing charges to pay.

AFAIK OVO only does ONE smart meter as that’s the correct method - one smart meter can handle everything that two traditional meters used to do for multi-rate setups. You’d still get multi-rate if that’s what you want, it would just be on a MUCH simpler setup.

No idea why that other supplier used two meters, but I’m afraid that’s not the norm and OVO is very unlikely to do it.

      Hi ​@Confused358,

       

      I can only assume that your neighbour’s setup wasn’t quite the same as yours, and they have two completely separate supplies that require two separate meters. I’d recommend getting in touch with Support again to book the smart meter appointment - it’ll have to be done if the meter is RTS.
