Hey @HairyMutley,

I thought by your previous update that the sample had been collected? Is this not the case?

Is the photo above related to the existing conversation around Brett coming to take a sample from the board?

I’ve reached out to @Lukepeniket_OVO to ask if he can check internally for you. Once I get an update i’ll pop back and let you know.

I heard from Brett on the as he set out to collect the sample. The meter is in a communal area, so he didn’t need me there for him to gain access. I haven’t heard anything since, so I assume that he collected the sample.

The photo is of the board that Brett was coming to sample.

Sadly, this all started with a meter swap appointment last September (although only on this forum since earlier this year). Progress has been rather slow :-)

Thanks for your response.

Thanks @Lukepeniket_OVO , brilliant result.

It is reassuring to have the worry about asbestos resolved.

Is there some sort of certification that can be put on the board itself and on the central records that will make sure this concern isn’t raised again in the future?

Well, Wayne came on Friday and swapped the meter, so that is sorted 😁

Rather worryingly, the first question he asked was whether it had been tested for asbestos, He thought that I should have had a test certificate. He went away and contacted base for a test result, but was unable to get anything. I explained this forum discussion, after that, he went ahead with the work. From a health and safety perspective, I feel that he shouldn’t have to proceed on such poor evidence.  As I said earlier...

<snip>

Is there some sort of certification that can be put on the board itself and on the central records that will make sure this concern isn’t raised again in the future?

He also mentioned that without a test certificate; if any work was needed in the future (OVO or any other supplier), the whole testing thing would have to be done again.

Anyway, now just need to wait for the web app to catch up with the new configuration as that is still showing the old Superdeal three meter reading configuration; no smart readings shown as yet.

Hey @HairyMutley

Glad to hear the engineer got that sorted in the end! It can take up to 6 weeks after installation for all of the data to settle in, so keep an eye on that in the meantime.

@Lukepeniket_OVO what do you think about the asbestos certificate and there being a record of previous testing in the event of future jobs? Is there something already in place or is it normal for a retest to have to take place each time?

You have to ask if retesting is going to be required every time someone needs to do work there then how often is that going to be?

I’m wondering if it might be better, and cheaper in the long run, to bite the bullet and get the board changed for a wooden/MDF one that is obviously not asbestos?

Personally I'd print off a sticky label saying simply:
"This board has been tested in 2005 when the meter
was exchanged and does not contain Asbestos"

and stick it on a corner of the board,
Any future engineer can then accept that label or not.
