I just have no explaination why the house is using 0.5-0.6 from 2am to 11.30am, then 0.05 to 0.1 thereafter.
If it’s a regular 02:00 to 11.30 then that sounds like something on a timer, or possibly a thermostat, or both.
If it’s 0.5-0.6 kWh each half hour then that would indicate that whatever it is is using an extra 500W during those 9-½ hours.
Typical suspects for using around 500W could be a ‘free standing’ electric radiator (the type often used to keep the chill off bedrooms and bathrooms), a heated towel rail, maybe a garage or greenhouse heater.
Do you own anything like those that may be kicking in?
I’m thinking particularly the free standing radiator - if your main heating is off while you are away then one of those if left switched on may well have started kicking in when it gets colder overnight.
PS. never say never, but I doubt that 500W would be worth anyones effort to deliberately abstract (steal) from someone else.
Thanks very much - my son went to my house and found that the electrical heater (Id forgotten about - Im 89) in the conservatory was what was doing it. No idea why it suddenly started working, but its on a timer. Now disconnected.
