How can I replace my 11 year old S1 IHD?

I have a Scottish Power IDH with is now 11 years old. Yesterday it stopped working and when it is switched back on it shows the electrical reading and gas reading and then switches itself off.

I have an account with OVO for my energy how do I get a replacement IHD and have it programmed to my existing smart meters?

Thanks in advance.

@Betteridgesr welcome to the OVO Forum! I hope you’re well, and thanks for your post.

Hold off buying an IHD!

Just to confirm, we do currently have stock of IHDs for enrolled S1 meters. Enrolled means that the meters have gone through the ‘enrolment and adoption’ process, whereby old S1 meters like yours are remotely upgraded so that they communicate with all suppliers. If you’re on supply with us, and your smart meters are sending us reads, then they’re enrolled.

Contact our Support Team and request a new IHD, they should have one sent to you within the next ten working days, free of charge. You’ll need to contact Support again when the IHD arrives - they’ll help you pair it to the smart meter.

Hi @Betteridgesr ,

My main guide on this can be found at:

Given you’ve got an ancient S1 setup… You’ll have a hard time getting OVO to replace it I’m afraid - stocks got depleted several years ago. Your best bet is to get one that I’ve listed.

Blastoise186,

Many thanks for your advice. Once I have purchased a new IHD would I need an engineer visit to set it up & connect to my smart meter?
