Hi @Yanna1,

Thanks for your post - I’m not an expert on heating systems myself, but have taken this info from the Dimplex website:

• For dual supply installations (recommended), the off-peak consumer unit needs to be energised by the electricity meter only when it is cheap, otherwise the heater will not know when it can take a charge overnight.

• For single supply installations, the tariff must be “whole house switchover” type. The off-peak times must be entered into the heater’s “Charge Times” menu so the heater knows when it can charge at the cheap rate. The tariff must be at the same times each night!

You can view the full info on their website here.

I believe that having a five port meter is the best option, but doesn’t seem to be completely necessary. It might be worth contacting Dimplex to have a chat with them about this, and let them know exactly which metering setup you have.

Dimplex contact details can be found here.

About a year ago @Carry raised a similar issue via the Forum:

@Carry - I wonder if you wouldn’t mind swinging by and letting us know how you got on in the end, and whether a five port meter was installed in your case?
