The E10 times are listed as:

 

Economy 10

 

Economy 10 provides 10 hours of off-peak electricity for everything in the home and can be suitable for a number of electric heating systems, including wet electric central heating and storage heaters. Storage heaters will automatically store at the off-peak times on the lower rate.

 

Electric immersion water heaters will also usually heat automatically during the off-peak hours and you may want to install an external timer to regulate when and for how long the water heats.  The off-peak hours offered with an Economy 10 plan add up to 10 hours during each 24-hour period – which is why this plan is known as Economy 10.

... My guess is that they’ve been put on the plan that has (GMT:!0) offpeak times “All days 0000-0500, 1300-1600, 2000-2200”, shifting with BST. I’ll be happy to be proved wrong!

There is also the question of the meter’s randomized offset, which could theoretically be 30 minutes. So a customer who sees his tariff change at ~13:30 might be seeing a change nominally timed for 13:00. ALCS load switching might be set to different times, just to confuse matters even more, e.g. if a customer is relying on the IHD’s red traffic light to tell him when the switch happens.

I don’t unfortunately although logically that should be the case.

Yes, that does complicate things but that’s why the separate circuit switch should automate everything connected to it while needing a visual alert for external circuits

    I thought the E10 times in my area were:

    04.30 - 07.30

    13.30 - 16.30

    20.30 - 00.30

    and fixed for both BST and GMT.

    Since Sunday (after the BST switch) the times are running an hour later i.e. 05.30 to 08.30 etc.

    (I can tell the switching times from the socket light on my storage heaters).

    Was my original assumption of fixed times for BST and GMT wrong or have OVO failed to make the time switch?

    Hi ​@Sandy42 ,

    Most Smart Meters don’t adjust between GMT and BST and remain on GMT the entire year. What you’re seeing is intended behaviour. You’ll still be charged correctly though.

      Thanks Blastoise - but I don’t quite get it. If my storage heaters are now charging between 05.30 and 08.30 and the “cheap rate” is 04.30 to 07.30 then I’m being charged the expensive rate for the last hour.

      Nope. You’ll be charged the cheap rate during all charging as that will be factored in.
