Extended ready by time not paying out?

I received an email from Ovo today saying “You’ve also earned £0.00 for extending your 'ready by' time” however I have participated in each one extending the ready by time by 10 minutes more than requested.  Frequently I notice that my car is already charged before the extended ready by time kicks in but I should still receive the £1 reward for participating.

Morning all, and @Rexy99 @David_S welcome to the OVO Forum. I’ve awarded both of you with EV badges so that other Forum members can recognise the kit you have.

I’m hoping you’ll find this section of our Power Move Flex FAQs helpful:

12. Why would you request I extend my ready-by-time?

Some customers may be asked to move their ready-by-time to help support the grid even more. This might be because there’s increased demand within your charging period. By extending your ready-by-time, you’re giving OVO more time to optimise the charging of your car and avoid potential higher demand periods.

How is my typical ready-by time calculated and how do you calculate ready-by time rewards?

For the first part of the trial, we based the calculation on the typical “ready-by” time of all of your previous Charge Anytime sessions.

For the second part of the trial, we based the calculation on your typical ready-by-time for any Charge Anytime sessions since the start of the trial, excluding days where we asked you to extend your ready-by-time. This is so we can reward you based on the most recent data we have on your typical ready-by-times.

Note: If you charged your vehicle fewer than 6 times in the first half of the trial, we didn't change your typical ready-by-time for the second part of the trial. This is to ensure your rewards are calculated using enough recent charging data.

Rewards: You might be told you can earn a reward for taking part. We calculate any rewards based on you extending your ready-by-time out from your typical ready-by-time when asked to do so. You’ll need to make sure you’re still plugged in at your new ready-by-time in order to earn the reward.

For example, say your typical ready-by-time is 7am and we ask you to extend this by at least 2 hours. You know you’re not leaving the house until 10am so you extend your ready-by-time out until 9:30am. Congrats – you’ve earned yourself a reward and helped us learn more about how we can better optimise demand on the grid.

We'll only be able to reward you when you change your ready-by-time as requested for an active charging session. Changing your ready-by-time when your car is already at your desired state of charge won’t provide any more flexibility to the grid, so we're unable to reward you for this.

If your EV is plugged in for multiple days at a time, and you receive multiple ready-by-time extension requests, you can only be rewarded for the first request until a new active charging session happens.

I keep receiving messages telling me to extend my departure time.  I have done this regularly but the extension is not recognised.  The following messages always state my departure time as 8am, even though it hasn’t been set to 8am for several weeks.

Anyone else having similar issues?

I thought this too, until I read the small print. If you unplug your car before you reach the time. Example said extend 2 hours past 8am. I was unplugging at 9am as fully charged and missed out on the extra £1.

I have extended every time I have been asked, which is well over 10 times now. The latest email says I have been asked 5 times and only did it once! I left the car plugged in until the extended time every time. If I knew how to contact OVO, I'd raise this with them!

Similar to my experience too.  Not bothered by a pound or two here or there but clearly the system is not working correctly for everyone.

Hey @David_S

Is it the ready by time on the charging app that you’re talking about?

If it’s not recognising that you’ve reset the time, it’ll be worth getting in touch with the Charge Anytime team to take a look as it sounds like it’s not registering through, but without access to the account here at the Forum we can’t be sure so do get in touch with the team for further support here.

Do let us know how you get on.

Each time I extend the ready by time by more than specified and leave the car plugged in past this time & still I am not getting credited 90% of the time.

Ovo’s system for recording participation is clearly broken.

Hey @Paulja

I’ve asked the team about this for anything further than what Ben_OVO had previously advised.

Hi @Abby_OVO ,

Yes as I have said I think OVO’s reporting of participation is just broken, I have been following @Ben_OVO instructions but I, and others, are just not getting the £1 credit applied consistently. I suspect it’s because we extend the ready by time correctly but the EV reaches full charge before the original ready by time.  also fyi the  https://www.ovoenergy.com/power-move-flex-for-charge-anytime-faq

Link in @Ben_OVO message is broken.
