Power Move - still operating?

Is Power Move still operational, and if so, exactly how is it calculated?

I aim to use no electricity at all beyond my fridge & freezer & other items on permanently, during the 4-7pm zone we were asked to cut down on use of electricity.

I did, at the start, get a £10 token of support, but have heard nothing since..

If it’s no longer operational, I might as well stop trying to avoid use of electricity during those times, as it’s  a waste of MY energy!

Does anyone know what is going on?

Hey everyone!

We wanted to update you about an issue with the Power Move sign-up emails. Some emails were mistakenly sent to our existing Power Move users, and our team is on it! They’re investigating what happened to make sure it doesn’t happen again. For now, you can ignore that email, and we  apologise for any confusion it may have caused.

On a brighter note, we’ve also sent out an email to our previous Power Move Flex users. It includes some fantastic videos highlighting the successes and feedback we've received from the trials. That one was definitely meant to go out!

Just to sum it up: there are no changes happening with Power Move at the moment, and the Power Move Flex trials have wrapped up, so there are no upcoming changes in that area. Thanks for your understanding!

Think it's still running but seems to have had a blip today, I've had a few £2 but it's not a lot, it was well worth it when it was £10 and it wasn't a draw I thought it was 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock?

Its just a con they want us to save so they look good!!!!!

It's been 5 until 7 and the rules have changed.  If you review the app all the terms and conditions are listed.  Easier to read than explain it here.

I'm still in it, but don't put much effort in since it moved to a prize draw.

I've won two £2 prizes. Hardly worth bothering really

Same here!  No effort and all but 2 months I've been given £2!

Yeah I’m the same. £2 prize draw is certainly not worth putting the effort in

I have alexa timers set for plugs and they have run the same as last winter. During that period I had over £40 credit this year £2 . The issue I have we the new system is;  its on a % and I have got rid of Sky and made other changed reduced total electricity by 6% which makes it more difficult to achieve the peak time target as, even if its low energy usage it becomes a larger % of the day. I said at the start its not a fair system. I was told on this forum that, average you would get the same. Well its no where near and not mathematically reasonable unless you use large amounts outside the window. :-(

Howdy!

Forum Volunteer here - please be aware I don’t work for OVO myself, but I am allowed to answer questions like this one as myself. While my answer will probably have a 99% chance of being right, please wait for it to be validated before treating it as 100% correct.

Just gonna sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide in here real quick.

Power Move is definitely still running - it’s in the OVO Energy app under the OVO Beyond section for those who qualify: Direct Debit + Smart Meter required.

I’ve actually spoken to the folks who built it a few times. While they’re a bit camera shy and don’t like to chat openly on the Forum, they do have the draw system set up so that it’s completely random and literally anyone who gets at least one entry (easier than you might think!) has a chance at winning any of the prizes. At first, everyone goes into the top prize draw and the computer does the number crunching to spit out a few winners. Those winners - and ONLY those winners - get yanked from the next draw for the second prize draw for the lower amounts where the computer runs the process again until all prizes are drawn for the month.

It’s entirely automated now so there’s no human in the loop - the system IIRC can even trigger account credits by itself now, but OVO can step in if it somehow doesn’t issue them to those it already selected. But so far the code has been pretty rock solid!

If you think you’re owed a confirmed Power Move credit and it doesn’t come through, please let OVO Support know and they can dig the logs.

Please remember it’s a completely random draw though per UK Law - there’s no trick to it other than being in the draw. All I’ll say is that having more entries does increase the chances the computer will pull your name (well, account number) out of the hat.

OVO is watching over it and may increase the prize pool to keep the game balanced based on what the team feels is appropriate. But there will ALWAYS be something in there at all tiers.
