Wondered why I’d been asked to sign up again on the App - a timely email notification would have been nice rather than needing to search the forum.

I got the email but there is no where for me to sign up on the app. How do I sign up for the next season?

I went to the Power move section of the App to check Jan progress and noticed I was no longer active and had to sign up again- they’d best not shaft us for January because of this..

It sounds like OVO tries to save money… Was the PM too successful?

Speaking about the prize draw: I have never won any prize draw in my life. Because of that I don’t believe in any of them, so it’s never a motivation for me. PM isn’t just a fun, we do a lot work adapting changes to our lifestyle to meet the target. Yes, it’s good for the environment, but the main motivation for me is money, reducing my energy bill. That’s a reasonable award for the effort made. That was fair exchange. 2%? For the over a year participation I’ve learned that I can reach 6%, if I’m careful. Maybe, if I would put a bit more effort, I could reach 5%. Maybe. Less than that is unrealistic, I’m afraid. We are living in the crisis, and reduced bills is a great motivation. Many of customers would be happy to work hard to reach the realistic goals. Realistic ones. And not a mystical chance to win a prize.

By the way, I received email saying I could entry the prize draw because of my participation in this forum. It doesn’t work this time! I’ve sent an email and left a comment – nobody replied yet. And you want me to believe it will always work with PM?

Weird. I’m still shown active on the app

Thank you for bringing the change to the Power Move terms to our attention. I see the changes were introduced on 22 January 2025. I for one had not noticed the change. It would be much more customer oriented if we had an official email from OVO to notify us of the change to the T&Cs whenever they change.

Even after reading the terms, I’m still not clear whether we have to “opt in” to the new scheme and if so when can I do that. I lost several days of eligibility in October by not realising I had to “join” PM again!

Whether I’ll bother anyway is a big question - just have to try it and see I suppose - there is no indication whatsoever of what the odds are! They could be nearly zero to “win” anything.

there is an opt in button in the app

Have just signed up for it. I do understand people’s anger and frustration with PM changing the way it works but it does reveal (if we didn’t know it already) an unattractive trait in human nature where we will only give something if we will get something back. Where are all these people now who claimed to be happy to do PM if it helps the grid, therefore the country and the planet?

Hey everyone,

Thank you for the comments and feedback we’re currently looking at this and taking things on board, we appreciate any and all feedback.

A couple of updates we’ve picked up so far below:

  • If you can't see the sign-up, make sure you have the updated version of the app.
  • All current Power Move customers are being emailed today, due to the volume they get staggered and everyone should receive the email by this afternoon.
  • The end-of-month results will be included in your end-of-month email. There was an update in the app yesterday, and your next update would have been your end-of-month results, which you'll still get around the start of February via email.

We’ll continue to share updates along the way with you all, we've reached out to the team on some of the other points raised and just waiting to hear back.

A gimmicky prize draw entry chance instead of useful bill deductions is a cynical move by OVO! It most probably got too pricey for them, so they'll now rely on sponsored schemes to keep Power Move afloat!

I welcome the new 5-7pm window. But I'm not a gambler and fear that the potential prices are not worth the effort!

Under the current rules, between end of Oct. '24 to end of Jan. 25 I earned a total of £32 off my bills. It was hard as a generally very low user, but the few coins spurred me on!

The chance of winning one of OVO's non-declared prizes will be negligible - I will not actively put any effort into it! Instead, I'll mindfully keep trying to lower my bills in other ways!

@Jasmin10 I’m happy to give something when I have something to give. I’m not rich and my mind is focused on surviving. And I’m afraid, it’s the majority in these days.

Regarding this prize draw (not related to PM), the information I said wasn’t correct, my apologies for that! I just checked that topic and it seemed that the issue was fixed and the reply was posted on the same day. Just for some reason I haven’t received email notification.

I knew it was too good to be true😥, i assumed that OVO would be saving money by encouraging there customers to use less energy during peak times, with OVO now using the slogan “Evolving”, i feel less of a valued customer,

i would of rather keep things as they were and give there customers the choice to save money or gamble in the hope to win a PRIZE 😌.

If i was a gambling man then i guess it might be exciting, but I'm not and would prefer to save on my energy bill £££,

I am a very committed and passionate OVO Customer and have always sung there praises, OVO looked after me during covid “with a 2 Year Fixed” and i haven`t look back since and had no reason to look else were, I`m was also fortunate to take advantage of the “Air Source plus tariff” 😍.

due to the forth coming “Evolving” changes,  i have less of a interest to continue with what was a Great Scheme that saved me and ovo ££££,

Johnr

Flipping eck I only get down to 5% by turning everything off including the fridge freezer . Guess no more deductions for me 😣

I agree with the earlier posters that this seems to be a reduced incentive.

10hrs out of 168 in a week is 6% of the time so perhaps the 2% is achievable if high usage activities are avoided, in that case it’s pretty good, £10 plus 14 entries?

I’d like to have been able to see where I finished for January rather then just be shown I needed to signup again.

Also, speaking to OVO on the phone today, the agent said you’d have to opt in each month...

Sorry. Didn’t mean to confuse. The T&Cs were updated on 22 Jan to introduce the prize scheme which starts on 1 Feb.

Looks like OVO has entered its ensh*ttification era. I have a personal rule of not entering prize draws as it’s just not worth the time for (nearly always) no reward. I’m already a very low power user for environmental reasons, and while I have been able to receive some power move credit by moving my usage hours and using a fridge timer, there’s just no way I can reach 2% without sitting in the dark and twiddling my thumbs for all the qualifying hours. I’ll keep the routine I’ve built up already from past challenges but I’m not going to stretch to meet the lowest percentage possible any more.

Well the prizes for the first month are declared on: https://www.ovoenergy.com/power-move

And given the numbers who are now saying that they won’t bother with PM anymore then maybe there will be a better than negligible chance?

Hey everyone,

a few more answers on other points and I’ll be feeding answers through when we have them!:

- The £10 credit for people whose peak is less than 2% runs until the end of May 2025, after that it will be prize draw entries only, explained in the terms - 4.4 Until 31st May 2025, any customer who has peak usage of less than 2.00% (1.99% or below) will also receive £10 energy bill credit, as well as their prize draw entries.
- To clarify, you don't need to opt in every month. This challenge is 'always on', so until said otherwise it will run indefinitely and you only need to opt in once.

I'll come back to you once I've had a reply to the other points, thank you again for your continued feedback.

This makes me feel better about abandoning Power Move after they made it direct debit and app user only.

I’ve also just given up on recycling because they’ve given us yet another recycling box and we have to do even more separation.  Sorry, no.  Six different bins is just too much.

If I won the £2000, HIGHLY unlikely that would make me £2500 in credit!!! 😂  I currently run with nearly a £500 credit as the algorithm that OVO must use to calculate your DD doesn’t seem to take in to account Charge Anytime credits.  I can’t reduce my DD to less than it is currently £153 yet our average bill is around £100’ish but our average bill not including the Anytime credit is £150’ish so every month I’m gaining around £50 credit at least.  According to the predicted balance a DD of £153 a month has a predicted balance on 31st March 2026 of £60  where as in reality I would be around £1100 in credit!!!!!!!!!  I get fed up of asking for a refund and messing with my DD.

Just sort the algorithm out to calculate on the ACTUAL final bill each month including all deductions!!!!!!

My last 3 months bills were

dec-jan £83

nov-dec £104

oct-nov £142

It’s a bit strange way to look at it. Power Move is about using less energy during a certain time slot in the day. 10 hours out of 168 in a week—how does this apply to PM? I’m genuinely confused.
Avoiding the high usage activities to reach 2%, might work if you are a family that consumes a lot of energy. Though, I don’t know how you would describe it to your little child. But if you are single, living alone, and are already a low-energy user, that’s nearly impossible. The only “high usage activity” in my case is the fridge, which I’m not planning to switch off every day for two hours… Buying a new fridge would cost me more than I potentially could save.

NO its not about using LESS energy in a time slot its about MOVING that energy usage to another time slot not at peak time.
