In case you havent seen it on the app the 2 free hours of off peak electricity is starting again soon. Copied from app:

eligible customers can choose 2 hours of free home electricity (unit rate only) each week, up to a maximum of 8 hours each month, subject to the exclusions noted in these Terms.

You can join up to the Offer and select your weekly hours within the OVO Energy app from 18 May 2026, the first week of free electricity will be 25 May 2026. The Offer will close to new joiners on 12 July 2026 and the free electricity slots will end 2 August 2026 @23:59pm.

This coincides with the large uptick in solar and very low prices that I get in the afternoons (with my tariff) this time of year. Time to fill your boots!

Has this started yet? It says starts 18th, but still says come back for sign up details?

Have the technical people managed to adopt the app for non typical screen sizes? I just checked the 2 free hours info and it looks that there is some text underneath the buttons which I cannot read. Please make the information readable or allow to read it on a computer. See screenshot attached.

It is live, you should be able to select ‘Get started’ within the dedicated space on the app, from there you can return back to the 2 free hours dashboard and select your first 2 slot times. If you still have any issues do let us know.

 

@costeek Thanks for flagging that, let me see if I can raise this with the team and check if they can perhaps adjust that.

They team have said this should be scrollable, you should be able to view all of the text.

What device are you using?

Android phone with non-typical screen resolution 20:9. Some Samsung phones, if I remember correctly, have the option to change it. Unfortunately, it’s not my case. 
Also, it wasn’t scrollable. The Home panel stays on top despite if there is a text of empty space. It was all discussed on this forum earlier with provided screenshots.

I have managed to book my first two free slots, but the first week available is not 18th May as advertised before the registration and slot choice windows became available. The first week is, in fact, from 25th May (slots to be chosen by Sunday 24th May).

I sent that extra information over to the team who’ve confirmed they think this one might actually be a bug on their end, they’re currently investigating the matter. They are aware of the previous conversation and the same limitations shouldn’t be in place here so hopefully they can resolve this bug soon.

Have you checked for any new app updates? The full eligibility for this period’s 2 hours free electricity are as below:

 

3.1 To be eligible for 2 hours of free home electricity, you’ll need to:

  • be an OVO Energy Customer on any electricity only or dual fuel fixed tariff or on our standard variable tariff (not available to gas only customers or pre-payment customers);

  • have downloaded the OVO Energy App;

  • have signed up to OVO Beyond;

  • have a working smart meter that sends us meter readings;

  • pay by monthly Direct Debit (in accordance with the Direct Debit rules in our Core Terms:

  • opted into half-hourly meter reads for billing (you can do this when you join);

  • opted into half-hourly meter reads for settlement (you can do this when you join);

  • use this offer for domestic use only;

  • comply at all times with these Terms and our Core Terms.

 

3.2 If you do not meet/continue to meet the eligibility criteria in paragraph 3.1 above, you will no longer be eligible for the Offer. 3.3 The Offer may only be used once per household. You can find the full terms for this offer here.

but I’m still unable to locate the new free 2 hour promo in the ovo app, 

can’t find it referenced on the app home or reward tab,

This implies that the first week is 18th May, not 25th.

The team have asked if you’d be able to make sure the app has been fully closed down, and restart the app up again after it’s been closed. (ie hard close where you swipe it to totally close). 

 

Hopefully that’ll help, but if not do come back and let us know.

Not showing on my android smartphone either, also closed down the app & a phone restarted.
