Beyond SEG

Great question, though I do have a quick question of my own first, then I’ll be able to check in with the team on whether that switch over would unlock that SEG Beyond exclusive.

Do you know if the meters are smart meters? If you’re currently only on the FiT tariff, that would suggest the meters are only traditional. If you could check that first that’d be really helpful as the meters would need to be smart in order to be eligible for SEG.

There’s a section on the webpage about what’s needed to be eligible for SEG you can check that out here but I’ve included some of that information below too:

Here's what you'll need to get a SEG tariff:

• MCS-certified renewable energy system or equivalent

• A smart meter to track your exported energy

• A battery schematics diagram (if you have a battery installed)

• You can't receive FiT export payments or public grants if you sign up to SEG

We do have new smart meter fitted in July 2023 and have been getting SEG payments since then. No battery.

However I have found another relevant and possibly problematic issue. The company which we employ to manage the block of flats on behalf of the owners is the registered account holder for the SEG, and also for the electricity supply to the common areas ie stair lights lift etc which is with SSE energy solutions. It may be that we are not considered as Domestic customers.

Worth noting that SSE customers were migrated to OVO a while ago. SSE retail doesn't exist any more. Does this mean that SEG rates should have changed over as well?

Well, thank you all for your input. I will continue to check in here to see if anything comes up which might change, but I was beginning to suspect that we were excluded on the basis of the accounts being operated through a business. Disappointing but it might change sometime.
