I tried repeatedly to set up an online account with ovo energy, I used to be with SSE and was changed over to ovo. I am a pay as you go customer, I have the old fashioned traditional metre that you top up with an electric key in the shop. I do not have a smart meter.

 

Is it not possible to have an online account with the traditional pay as you go metre.

Sorry but not for that meter setup and payment type. With Traditional PAYG, literally everything is done on the meter itself and there’s basically nothing you’d be able to do via an online account, which is why you can’t set one up in these cases.

If you’d like to have one, you’ll need to switch to Pay Monthly first and get a Smart Meter installed to replace that existing PAYG meter. If that sounds like something you’re happy to do, give OVO a call on 0330 175 9669 and they’ll talk you through it.
