How long for credit on old meter to be transferred to new smart meter?

Hi everyone! I had a new smart meter installed on the 3rd of December. The previous one had broken and needed to be replaced for me to get any gas supply. The engineer told me it could take 48 hours for my credit to be transferred from the old meter to the new one, however it’s now the 10th (albeit early in the morning) and it’s still not updated and I’m afraid once the £2 of emergency credit i have left runs out I’ll once again be left with no supply. I’m disabled and having heat and hot water is very important for my pain levels and proper hygiene/pain relief baths.

If there’s any more information I can give I’ll be happy to do so. Have a lovely week!

@njvan let us know when you’ve contacted OVO as per @Blastoise186’s great advice here.

One of our advisors can get this sorted for you easily, and should be able to get the credit on the meter whilst you’re speaking to them.

hi! i contacted via web chat today, the advisor placed 40 pounds on the meter and advised me my own credit could take up to six weeks for all meter information to sync over and to contact if i ran out of credit again.

You can find lots of useful Pay As You Go meter guides and information in our Forum Library section here.

Hi @njvan ,

I’d suggest reaching out to OVO to get that checked ASAP - they have options if you need them.

By the way, you might want to look at the Priority Services Register - it’s free and may help you.

Would you like to know more about it?

@njvan thanks for letting us know. Hopefully this’ll be done quicker than six weeks, but six weeks is the maximum timeframe for new meter details to be updated on your account.

If you get stuck and need to contact in again, shoot me a private message and I’ll see what I can get done for you.
