Hey @tony.davies2,
Welcome to the OVO Online Community,
Can I change from a single rate plan to an Economy 7 plan?
We’re not able to offer this change due to technical limitations. We’re working on introducing this in the near future though so do check back in later in the year.
If you currently have a working smart meter, we would not replace this with a smets2 meter.
I’m not sure why the superdeal & flexideal tariff were only offered to the south of England, it’s a good question. It’s my belief that these tariffs were offered by SSE & OVO inherited customers on these tariffs.
Flexiheat
Our Flexiheat tariff is exclusive to customers that live in certain parts of southern England. It offers you seven hours of cheaper, off-peak electricity for your stored heat and hot water. Not only that, but you also get a cheaper rate for all the electricity use in the evenings and at weekends, as well as a cheaper rate all day between 24 December and 1 January.
You get one meter which has three rates:
-
One rate records the electricity you use during the day
-
Another for electricity used in the evening and at weekends (and the Christmas period)
-
The third records all the electricity you use during the seven hours of stored heat rate electricity, for stored heat and hot water.
When are the cheaper, off-peak times for Flexiheat?
You get a total of seven hours for your stored heat and hot water. We may change the times of supply from day to day, and may also split up the period of supply.
You can also take advantage of the evening and weekend electricity rate for appliances like washing machines and dishwashers. Your cheaper evening and weekend rate is from 7.30pm to 7.30am on weekdays and from 7.30pm on Fridays through to 7.30am Mondays.
Superdeal
Like Flexiheat, Superdeal is exclusive to customers in certain parts of southern England. It also has one meter with three rates:
-
One rate records all the electricity you use during the day
-
Another records all of the electricity you use during the night period
-
The third measures all the electricity you use during the seven hours of cheaper-rate electricity for stored heat and hot water
Superdeal works by storing up heat and hot water using the lowest possible rate of electricity. It works best with storage heating, so it isn't usually suitable for homes with other forms of heating.
When are the cheaper, off-peak times for Superdeal?
You get seven hours at the cheapest rate for your stored heat and hot water. In the colder months, one to two of those hours may be during the day for top-ups. You can also take advantage of the cheaper electricity rate for your appliances like washing machines and dishwashers. They're charged at the cheaper rate everyday between midnight and 7.00am.
