I have to use the Ovo App for iOS as it is the only mechanism by which I can download electronic (PDF) receipts - these are not accessible via the web site.
However, every single time I launch the Ovo App for iOS, it goes through a complete “re-download” upadate process, with a succession of extremely insulting messages being displayed on my iPad:-
- One moment please, we’re refreshing the app
- Won’t be long now, thanks for waiting
- It’s taking longer than usual, sorry about this
It doesn’t take “longer than usual” - the app does this every single time and it always takes the same length of time to repeat these stupid messages.
It really feels like Ovo or their developers are just trolling customers with these stupid on-screen messages.
I’ve looking in the iOS Settings app - which is even worse - because there we find an option, set in the Ovo App, to enable “backupground updates”. A setting which it completely ignores.
Because this happens every time I launch the application, I am waisting time and monthly data allowance to “refresh” an application that never changes. I would understand if the app performed say a monthly check, but is it really necessary to do this every single time?
Does anyone else have this issue? If so, have you tried asking Ovo about it? And if so, what was there response? I searched the forums but didn’t see anything on this subject… so slightly worried I have some kind of weird, outlying bug…
Any constructive suggestions appreciated.
Thank you
