Question

Receieved a final bill even though I’m trying to continue my flatmates contract

My flatmate moved out on the 25th July and he was paying for Ovo on direct debit. I got a letter to the “The Occupier” to set up account. I set up the account with the account number in the letter and today I have received an email with a final bill and when I go onto my account it says that I’ve moved out on the date that my flatmate moved out. How do I just continue to pay the contract?

You can’t simply change names on an account like that.

The correct procedure is that the moving out tenant closes their account, and the moving in tenant opens a new account in their name, it will have a new account number.

OK you are already there and not moving in, but as far as the system goes it’s the same thing.

ie A tenant who was paying the bill has moved out, so a new tenant has to set up a new account in their own name and with a new account number.

This advice applies (even though you are not actually “moving” as such).

There’s one for credit accounts and one for PAYG

I would contact support and explain what has happened and they should be able to sort things out.

I said, Hey - Watts going on.
