I'm having a new solar system installed next week. The system will give me 7.84 kW peak generating power and my DNO have approved ma  11 kW production and potential for 7 kW export to grid.  My current OVO supply contract (electricity only) is a simple fixed rate until 13th June.  I've heard Octopus are the best supplier for solar + battery systems, but having looked at what OVO are offering me I can't see any plans that suit my needs.  Are there any and where can i find details?

Also, I want to applyfor a SEG but i figure this will be best done after a new flexible supply agreement from either OVO or Octopus has been established.

Any guidance from forum members with experience in these matters would be appreciated.

We’ve had solar since 2012 and batteries added later the same decade.

Initially our supply was with OVO but our main problem was that we couldn’t get an off-peak tariff due to OVO’s billing issue with previous single tariff meters.

We had no problem with solar + OVO but did switch to get a time of use (tou) tariff elsewhere.

You should calculate your various energy needs, solar generation potential and export potential to see what best fits your expectations
