Hi @missussimoa , unless you have a multi-rate tariff (Economy 7 or similar), then you are charged the same rate for energy use whenever you use it.

If you are thinking more about the greenest time to use, then that changes daily but it is generally overnight (midnight -7am).

You can see the latest forecast beneath your usage on the app

It’s also different in different parts of the country. For example right now:

The north of the country has significantly greener energy at the moment.

You can find out more about Economy 7 (dual rate) tariffs in this guide:

We also offer other ways to save via our Beyond 2 hours free electricity offer and Power Move 👇

I am trying to find out when is the best / cheaper time for energy use ( don’t have an EV) - just for washing / cooking / heating etc. I do try not to use much during 5-7pm each day ! Thanks

It’s better for the National Grid and for the ecology in general not to use it between 5–7pm. But in terms of your money, I don’t think that there is a difference. The only exception is that if you are taking a part in Power Move, you can win some credit towards your energy bill.

OVO don't have any Time Of Use (TOU) tariffs except for the likes of Economy 7 etc so the cost is the same whenever you use power. However, as @costeek said, it best to minimise usage during the peak. You can get a reward for minimising your use during this time so look for the Power Move initiative in the app or web page.

Morning @SueB and a warm welcome to the OVO Forum community 😁.

Thanks for your post - I can see you’ve already been answered by @costeek and @Peter E. Do you have an Economy 7 tariff (split rates for peak and off peak (day and night))? If so, we can let you know which time the meter switches to the off-peak rate.

If you’d like more info on Power move, as mentioned above, you can find out more on our website, and in this Forum thread:

Hi Ben

No we don’t have a split tariff contract and I already signed up for the power moves

I was just wondering outside of 5-7 if there were any other cheaper times !

Gotcha - in that case you’re on Flat Rate so the rates are the same 24/7 - you just get rewarded if you move usage outside the 5pm to 7pm slot.
