Imperial Gas Meter (6 digits) - Am I billed correctly ?

I am trying to understand my bill from this old Imperial meter and I don’t think it is reading in 100s as the conversion used by company is 2.83. The meter is a 6 digit meter and 1 revolution is 1.11 ft3. The current reading is 840956 but company is taking it as 84095600. The problem is that even in summers (August 24)I am getting 38,000 kWh of bill (92,000 kWh in Jan 25) - 1400 sqm commercial building - instantaneous gas Domestic water heaters and 10 years old 2 condensing boilers (110 kW each). Can any one comment on it ?

There’s a note on the meter itself saying cubic feet, the double zeros indicate a reading in hundreds and that’s when the 2.83 multiplier is used when converting to kWh with the digits before (not including) the zeros.

The meter is in need of being updated as its date indicates that the calibration period has passed

Welcome to the forum @Hamza123 and thanks for your post.

I can see @BPLightlog has given some great advice here and I hope that answers everything for you. You should get in touch with your supplier and request that they change the meter due to its age.

Best of luck!

… the conversion used by company is 2.83 … The current reading is 840956 but company is taking it as 84095600.

It’s the difference between two readings that counts. The meter in your photo is reading 840965 x 100 ft³, so 9 x 100 ft³ more than when you gave the ‘current reading’.  900 ft³ > 9 x 2.83 = 25.49 m³.

If you posted a picture of a recent bill (with sensitive information obfuscated) we could see whether the bill is calculated correctly or not. As a rule of thumb, 1 m³ of gas equates to about 11.1 kWh, so 100 ft³ is a bit less than 32 kWh.
