You will need to remove the floorboards in the room above and fully trace the pipe back to the main incoming connection which may be where your meter is located. Having fully traced the pipe you will need a registered gas engineer to disconnect it to ensure the gas network within your home remains safe. Once they have disconnected the pipe the remains can be safely removed.
If you do not have or cannot removed boards to trace the pipework a gas engineer should be able to advise further.
Registered gas engineers can be found via the Gas Safety Register, you can use this helpful search tool to find one near you.
