I posted a question on here recenyly entitled “constantly changing direct debit”. It had responses and comments. I have the emails and notifications on this page to indicate it existed. I have gone to read further replies and theres an error page “page not found” and on my profile it shows I havent started any threads. Please explain why its been removed as now highly suspicious of this forums management. I dont believe any rules were broken.

I think it’s been amalgamated into

That’s done from time to time to keep similar subjects together so others reading around a subject get all the info in one thread. Personally I think it can get a bit confusing as it means there’s too much in each thread !

Thank you. No other forum im part of does that. Each thread is as it is. Not sure what the benefit of merging it is and if that is the case, it would be handy if the author is informed and a comment on thepost to say its being merged or archived rather than just being deleted and removed from my profile as a thread Id started. Now looks like im a newbie and never posted before.

That would be useful. I can’t remember if it’s been suggested before but you could submit it as an “idea”.

I can confirm that other forums either merge or simply delete parallel threads with or without notification.

I'm a forum moderator elsewhere, and yes we do occasionally merge or split threads to help keep things relevant and on topic.
Like when someone decides to post the same question multiple times we’ll merge them together.
Or when someone posts “I have the same problem”, but it’s a different problem then we’ll usually split it out to it’s own thread.

Any links to the original get automatically redirected to the new location.

Depending on the software that the forum runs on then the moderator who is doing the splitting/merging may be able to message the user(s) as part of the action.

But TBH with most fora it's pretty seamless; things just get redirected and users often don't notice that their posts have moved. (Apart from when we put 5 or 6 posts with the same question all together as one thread).

I've not used the Gainsight forum software that this forum runs on, so can't say if it's a moderator option here to message the user(s) when splitting and merging threads.

Just wanted to sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide in for a second…

When threads you created are merged, the content gets moved to Replies under your profile - check that one and it should show up. :)
