Economy 10 being phased out?

I’m reading a few recent posts on another group that OVO have stopped offering E10, and are now offering E7/E8 or E9, I’m aware that until recently OVO were the only supplier offering E10, can anyone else confirm this. Bit baffling as technically E9 and E10 are very similar - but obviously E9 has 1 hour less, are OVO just looking to save some money?

Just to confirm we’re not stopping Economy 10 altogether. What you could be referring to is a temporary stop on Economy 10 in the MPAN 17 area.

 

We’ve put a (hopefully) temporary pause on Economy 10 in Northern Scotland due to some network balance challenges. We are working hard to overcome these challenges and should hopefully be able to start offering Economy 10 again in this area soon.

      Quite. There was some talk (which I can’t find just now*) about reproducing an RTS-like system by giving individual households in an area different MTCs - the meter timeswitch codes in the MPAN that specify just when a meter switches to offpeak. This could smooth out the demand over time, so, for example, one gets offpeak electricity between noon and 14:00 while the neighbour gets it between 14:00 and 16:00. This would avoid overloading a weak distribution network as the current arrangement might if all E10 customers in the area operated their heating equipment at the same time. I haven’t seen any evidence of this being implemented, though.
