I am thinking of switching to the 1 year fixed loyalty tariff but I do not need the boiler service.  My son is a qualified gas engineer and can do that for us.  How do I take the tariff without the service?

It has been updated overnight with more details than before. I can see Loyalty tariffs both with and without boiler cover, so perhaps you can, too. Once you’ve settled on the one you want, contact Support to switch.
