Anothe person with an Extra meter reading added to my readings history list

Today I logged on to update my meter reading and to make a payment and saw that a random meter reading had been added for my electric bill (nothing was added for gas)

The reading says     20 Jul 2026 · Network actual 66689

On this months bill it’s displayed as  19 Jul    Actual 66689.900

 

Both my electric and gas meters are located inside the house and can only be read from inside.

No one has come to my house to read the meter

I did not make or submit this reading

 

Why has this happened, and how can we stop it happening again?

    ​@snic  Have you queried this with OVO support? I've just had a reply to my query saying that it appears that the meter reading was supplied by MDS, & that a note has been left on the account & that no incorrect readings will be added again.

    Was your “guessed” reading near to your actual reading? I ask because it means that the meter reader must have had access to your previous readings to allow him to make a guess? I had always assumed that meter readers simply take a reading & send it to the supplier, but they obviously have access to our readings somehow.
