Using solar from one address at another

I have a 15KW solar system on the roof of my works unit.  I live on the other side of the city.  I would like to forgo my feed in tariff and not pay for the electricity I use at home as I am feeding in energy from my works unit.  The unit is closed from 4pm and all weekends.  So there is a vast amount of power simply being fed back into the grid!  As I’m connected to the grid from home, then really it the same as having an extension lead to my unit!!

Thanks for posting this idea, @Stainless

It’s a really interesting one that logically seems possible. In reality knowing how the grid works, the current mechanism (the smart export guarantee), ensures you’re paid for any energy you generate that isn’t consumed.

This idea isn’t related to an OVO product that Forum Ideas collaborate with, so I’ll change the status to ‘Can’t be done yet’. Still I’d like to see where this idea gets to. There might be a discussion point here, or just interest from other generators that want the chance to vote.

I think it will come down to a contractual legal issue.!  I get paid for what I generate and then for what I feed in.  So, the weekends are 100% feed in.  I use all of it jurying the week.  What drew my attention to this.  Is the fact that if I were to plug my home into my unit via an extension lead.  Then the power would be free to me.  As the unit is adding electricity to the same network my home takes the power off.  Then it does actually make sense that I've already uploaded the power I’m then getting charged for!  Do you know any lawyers that could put an argument together.  There would be a lot of people in the same boat, and it could see a fairer evolution of how energy is generated, the motivation to generate power and a fairer pricing structure.
