Simple 2 boxes for Gas / Electric meter readings

Not sure what you’re trying to suggest here? Could you expand a bit please?

Those ‘Live’ meter readings are (should be) available 24/7 on your In Home Device.
(They are updated more or less Real-Time for electricity, and usually 10 minute intervals for gas).

OVO can’t currently show then live on your account or on the app though, those only show daily readings.

Yes the meters do record the data in half hour packets, but OVO only access them once a day and download all 48-packets from a meter at once for that day.

To show the readings changing ‘live’ every half hour on your account or app would mean accessing everyones meter readings every half hour.
There would be a delay getting each half hours meter reading to the account/app.

Whilst that should be possible technically, I’m not sure how the current data infrastructure would cope with the 48x increase in traffic that would be involved?
(It may need investment at DCC for more servers, etc. and that would be a decision for DCC so not in OVO’s control))

It is an interesting concept, and would enable the usage charts, live balance, etc to be updated throughout the day.

However I can see it confusing some customers if their ‘Live Balance’ was changing every half hour.
Some already get confused about it changing daily.

PS. Do you have in mind a specific use for such ‘live’ meter readings throughout the day?

Did you want to see boxes on the home screen for you to provide manual readings, or boxes that display your most recent smart meter readings?

We’ll need some more info in order to open this up as an idea to be voted on.
