Battery Boost - Notification of charging battery from grid.

Is there any functionality in the app (or can it be built in) that the battery is being charged remotely from the grid through Battery Boost?

Over the last couple of weeks (after BB went live) it charges the battery overnight to 90%. However today (23rd) there was an afternoon session for about an 90 minutes.

it would be useful to have an alert via SMS or email.

Opened this up for votes @mikes01666 - I’ll reach out the team responsible after the festive period to see if this is a viable idea they could implement. I’ll then come back and update if for any reason its not possible!

Any progress on this?

It appears I'm getting short bursts of Battery Boost to my battery (first since spring) and I'd like notification so I can divert to the car?

Thanks

I'm just thinking out loud here but Battery Boost and EV charging are two different uses but have different impacts on power usage in the house. OVO may have reasons for it being used specifically for the battery rather than the car. It might be a reason why there has been no reply or indeed, any comments from others.

As an example of the opposite, OVO have Charge Anytime for an EV but you can't use that electricity for use in the house. And yes, I don't like the restrictions on how the power is used any more than you do but there may be restrictions what is being offered.

The last part is that it takes time and effort to set up a means of communicating this power availablity to do what you want to do and if the demand is low then it is unlikely for it to happen. The lack if any response could be the reason for no one responding to this thread.

The reason I ask is that today (the first time I've noticed) is Battery Boost appears to be charging in small bursts (15 minutes approximately) between 11 am and 2 pm. It's boosted the battery to 60% (there's not much solar around).

During these spells I've charged the car at a reduced level (approx 8A). With the battery being charged,  the house load being covered and the car charged at its reduced level, the total draw from the grid is about 7 kW (about 28A).

It will be interesting to see the Battery Boost stats at the end of the month.

@mikes01666 I’ve chased this up with a colleague who works with Battery Boost - I’ll let you know when I hear back!

@mikes01666 I hope you’re well.

Just to let you know I can confirm your suggestion has been passed to the Product Lead for Battery Boost. Fingers crossed for a good result, and thanks again for your suggestion 😁.

Cheers,

Ben

Just an update to say that as of 1 February 2026 Battery Boost is no longer available. We’ve contacted all customers who have been impacted by this change.
