Question

Why was my Direct Debit still taken after my move out date?

Hoping someone can help shed some light on my current situation. We recently bought a new house on 5th December, and looked at whether I could take my current OVO account across from old to new address however not possible. I’ve been with OVO since 2021 and have had nothing but positive experiences so I was keen to stay with them.

Howdy @fqwwqfwf ,

AFAIK OVO doesn’t currently have a way to move an account between properties - it’s all deeply and tightly integrated on a 1:1 relationship. Some suppliers try to make it possible, but it doesn’t always work out well - it’s generally better to close the existing account and fire up a new one anyway. The best method with OVO is currently to launch a new account via https://switch.ovoenergy.com for the new property, and notify OVO of a Home Move on the existing account - the fastest way is either via https://my.ovoenergy.com or via the app, but you can also contact Support if that’s easier.

Was there a particular issue you’ve been having? I couldn’t quite figure it out from your opening post, so if you could give us some more details, we may be able to figure out your options for you.

Morning @fqwwqfwf and a warm welcome to the OVO Forum 😊.

Congratulations on the new house. You can certainly take OVO with you, and we’d be more than happy to supply the new property. If you’ve moved out of the previous property completely now, then that account must be closed down and final billed. The guide below will explain how to do this process online:

If you’d like to switch to OVO, you can do so online. If you’ve tried this, and are having issues, please let us know so we can help you further. This guide will give you more information on the switching process:

Let us know how you get on!
