@janie Thank you very much for the photo 🙇‍♂️

You clearly got what you asked for; that 10 year old meter could well serve for many years yet, but you can hope that it will eventually be possible to exchange it for a smart meter that could save you a lot of effort.

The SMS engineer certainly did do a really neat job; I would like to think that that’s typical.

It's a pity I didn't have before photos although there are somewhere at ovo because each engineer has sent photos back to base after each visit, am happy 😊 with it all and in 10 years time I'll be eighty and won't remember any of this 😀

Have a great weekend

Thanks for sending those photos @janie 😁 - this is all really helpful if we see anyone else in your previous position.

I don't think they did justice to the amount of work put in Ben, as @Firedog said it's already an old meter, in my eyes it's a resolution, one that I am very grateful for and it seems to be working perfectly 👌

Hey, thanks for letting us know @janie ! We’re already trying to learn from this one and I can assure you this much - it has taught us a LOT about these really weird and complex situations. You have my thanks for that.

As for your meter, it’s a 2016 unit so you’ve got a few years left on it yet - earliest EoL I can predict would be 2031/2036 so you’re OK until then.

For those reading this thread however, please be advised that this is a pretty unique case. Traditional (Non-Smart) Meters are no longer manufactured and the unit installed this time around was a refurbished one that already had a life somewhere else. There’s a very limited supply of them and they are only used for exceptionally tricky cases where literally nothing else is possible. Please do not rely on being able to get one - we literally can’t make any promises as stocks continue to dwindle.

@Chris_OVO @Ben_OVO @Abby_OVO

Sorry to be a pest but can anyone help with this email I  received regarding an Engineer Visit, I think we all know I don't have a smart meter.

Hiya @janie, good morning. I hope you’re doing well.

Strange one this - I’m imagining that this communication has been sent in error, and is part of the usual customer journey for RTS meters being replaced (usually to smart meters). Potentially our systems have been duped into thinking you have a non-comms smart meter, when in fact it’s a traditional one.

I’m going to tag @Lukepeniket_OVO here, just in case he might be able to flag something on his side stating that there’s no need to contact you for an appointment. I’ll reach out to him internally as well. If you do receive a call from our engineers just let them know that an appointment isn’t required, as you don’t have a smart meter.

@Ben_OVO thanks, I would hate to waste a valuable Engineer Visit , there was no contact number on the email or I would have called them back

Hey @janie,

We just wanted to share a quick update from Luke. He’s reached out to SMS to request the job card for removing the second MPAN, so you shouldn’t hear from us anymore regarding this matter. If you’ve received any messages from us until now, feel free to ignore them. And if any more pop up in the next week, just disregard those too.

If you’re still getting contacted about this next month, don’t hesitate to give us a shout, and we’ll be happy to follow up. For now, we're pretty confident that everything is on track on our end.
