Hi @tony.davies2

Sorry to hear you didn’t have any luck with the team, you can check online for available tariffs, but it may not show certain tariffs such as Economy 10 if your meter isn’t currently set up in this way. The following Forum topics may be helpful here:

I would say it’ll probably be worth having another conversation with the Support Team as they’ll be able to view all available tariffs.

Let us know how you get on.

Can I change from a single rate plan to an Economy 7 plan?

We’re not able to offer this change due to technical limitations. We’re working on introducing this in the near future though so do check back in later in the year.

Hi Abby.

I have been a  customer for over 20 years  between (  S.W.A.L.E.C. / S.S.E. / and now O.V.O. ) so the link you provided takes me to account. I’am presently on Simpler energy  unit rate 25.38p per kwh and 46.52p  standing charge, it’s seems to me that loyalty counts for nothing. Nukecad give me this link  https://plans.ovoenergy.com/  this is we’re i found the Economy 10 tariff.

                                thanks Tony.

Hi Abby.

Spoke to the support team about changing to 1 year fixed economy 10 and they are looking in to it and will get back to me within 7 to 14 days. Ade mentioned they will need to change the meter, i explained that firedog in the forum said the tech team can do this remotely as i already have a smets 2 smart meter.

Oops! It’s usually possible to change a meter configured for a multi-rate tariff to single-rate operation simply by setting the rates to the same figure, without making any change to the meter itself. The reverse isn’t true, so far as I’m aware, although we’ve been told that it may become possible at some stage. So yes, I’m afraid you’d need a meter exchange to take advantage of offpeak prices for your new storage heaters.

Thanks Firedog, when i spoke to the support team 4 weeks ago they informed me that they could not change my meter. Surely they should give me the plan that is best for me as i am 100% electric and paying through the roof. If it’s not resolved in the next 2 weeks i may look at other energy suppliers.

I have just had a reply to my second e-mail which i sent on the 15- 09-2025, they said that they don’t change over from anytime to multi rate meters  and it will have to stay as a single rate meter. They replied quickly to this e-mail has the first e-mail i sent on the 23-07-2025 i had no reply too, this may have happened as i mentioned i would get in touch with the energy ombudsman. They changed the old RTS  meters so there are new meters available.

Hey @tony.davies2,

You can only switch from a single rate tariff to a multirate meter if your current meter already transmits both day and night readings.

If your meter doesn't currently provide these readings, you will need to remain on a single rate tariff, as we are unable to change this.

Good morning Chris.

I am well aware that you cant change from a single tariff to multirate tariff, in saying that the electricians that fitted my storages heaters and solar panels say they can change it, we will leave that for another day. I have asked for a complete new meter change this they can do.
