My property is using over 30kwh per day with no heating on (Air Source Heat Pump) when no one is home - how can I check what's using the energy?

I have just looked at our usage and don’t understand how over 30kwh is used a day when no one is in the property and over 40 when we are home, with no hearing on? How can I check what’s going on?

Thanks for the screenshot, and for the further info. If you’re seeing just monthly reading schedules then the Usage data in between readings won’t be wholly accurate. We recommend switching your reading schedule to daily or half-hourly (half-hourly is best as gives you the best usage visibility). 

 

Those look suspiciously like estimated figures. Smart usage data amounts will normally be formatted as links (e.g. in green and underlined) with the link redirecting to the half-hourly data page for the day concerned. 

From the menu on the page you’re showing, select Meter readings > View reading history. On the Electricity reading history page, deselect Hide estimates. You should now be able to see whether the smart meter is indeed sending in daily readings. 

Your latest bill will tell you whether it’s based on estimated or ‘smart meter’ readings. 

 

Please follow the guide below to update your reading schedule via your online account or app and select half-hourly unless there’s a specific reason you’d prefer daily. If you then give it 48 hours or so, you’ll see the reads coming through each day, and you’ll then have a clearer idea of your usage. The ‘Usage’ pages of your online account and app will also then become a lot more detailed, giving you a half-hourly breakdown. This will enable you to see if your usage is spiking at particular times of the day.

 

 

Let us know how you get on, it’ll be interesting to see what the accurate usage data looks like in comparison to the current estimated.

Just that note that it’s not like that in the app, mine are all black with no links.
(They are green with links in the online account).

​@HK17 As said those do look like estimates (no mater what it says about being smart).

If you go to the ‘Day’ view then what do you see there?
This is mine from yesterday which as you can see shows the half-hourly smart metering:

        ​@HK17 I’d recommend leaving it over the weekend, and then letting us know on monday how it’s looking, we’ll then have a couple of days of data to examine.
