Heat Pump Plus tariff - what's happening?

Hi,

I have recently had a Vaillant aroTherm Plus heat pump installed, which is eligible for the Heat Pump Plus add on.

I have entered all details in the eligibility checker and got a message back saying that OVO will get in touch in the next 5-7 days. It has been more than 3 weeks and I haven't got any correspondence with OVO.

I have sent an email to OVO, and also I have been redirected to Heat Pump department but the line just drops after a while.

I have exhausted all communication channels to get to some one to no avail.

Any recommendations as what to do now? Basically their tariff is the main reason I signed up with OVO but I cannot do a simple thing of adding their tariff.

As of 1 February 2026 Heat Pump Plus is no longer available. We’ve contacted all customers who have been impacted by this change.

Further info I got from OVO:

We’ve just been advised to stop all new sign-ups to Heat Pump Plus indefinitely. Unfortunately, this is a decision made at a wider level, and I don’t have further details on when this may change.

Hey @JLB49,

I just checked in with the team, and they’re still making progress on an update. They’re hoping to have something for you by next week. Thanks for your patience!

Hey @JLB49,

I just wanted to let you know that I’ve merged your topic with a similar one to keep everything organised.

It looks like the Heat Pump Plus tariff has paused new signups for now.

I’m waiting to hear from the team next week about their plans, and I’ll be sure to update you in the thread as soon as I find out more.

Have just received an email from Havenwise to tell me that OVO are ending the Heat Pump plus tariff.

son that means that OVO have this year made power move effectively worth very little, have doubled the cost of charging an EV and have doubled the cost of running a heat pump. I am glad to say that I have now abandoned OVO in favour of Octopus. I have enjoyed the benefits of all the OVO benefits for the last two years but I am afraid that it now apparent that all the “sweeteners” have now been abandoned or eroded to such an extent that it is no longer financially sensible to continue with them. I have  little doubt that the devil I don’t yet fully know may peruse  a similar path but I

The Heat Pump Plus termination letter is a bit brutal - basically “Thank you and goodbye”. No mention of any plans for a replacement tariff to encourage heat pump use.

OVO’s commercial policy now seems rather gimmicky. No real advantage of using them now other than the chance to win an O2 arena ticket. Hmm.

Octopus are innovative in tariffs and encouraging renewable energy use. Hopefully OVO will now come forward with some real innovation but at the moment it's all a bit glum.

Yup and O2 arena tickets do not appeal greatly when you live in west Devon!

one does wonder if OVO are in trouble…….

I was lucky enough to be on the scheme with an Ecodan from last year, but I always questioned the economics of this tariff. What we never knew was if OVO were taking the hit on the tariff out of goodwill to heat pump users or whether there was a subsidy from Vaillant, Veissman and Mitsubishi to make sure it wasn’t a loss leader. Either way, considering recent press reports about OVO’s economic woes, in meeting regulatory requirements, the termination of this tariff doesn’t surprise me along with all the other changes to their add-ons like Power Move.

I guess the old adage of something being too good to be true comes to mind and now it’s a case of finding an alternative tariff or supplier. Either way I’m a heat pump fan and losing Heat Pump Plus shouldn’t deter users from the technology.
