Question

Ecodan Thermostat ambiguity

Hello

This seems obviously wrong but how do I solve it?

It’s a Mitsubishi Ecodan system. The heating seems to be driven by the thermostat fixed on the side of the HWC, and not the roving thermostat.
Fixed stat reports 19.5 actual / 18 required
Roving reports 16.5 / 18
How do I get it to use the roving thermometer?

(yes, one solution is set the stat to 21 or something but that is not very helpful, thanks)

The Melcloud app reflects the fixed readings.

Thanks for any help

Hey @skattie,

I’m sorry for the delayed response. I was reviewing some older contacts and noticed that you hadn’t received a reply on your post yet. I’ve tagged a few members of the community who have Ecodan systems, as they may be able to provide some helpful advice!

@Ecodanwarrior or @M.isterW are you able to help with advice on the above?

For clarity... the controller attached to your cylinder is called an FTC. The one in your house is a Mitsubishi Wireless Controller.

Unfortunately I don't have the Mitsubishi wireless controller so I can't help. However, there's a group on Facebook that includes some very knowledgeable people. It's called "Mitsubishi Ecodan Help & Advice (UK & Ireland)". I'm fairly sure someone on that group will be able to help.

I don’t have the Mitsubishi Wireless Controller but it looks like you have two thermostats for 1 zone which could be the problem.

The control unit, if acting as a thermostat - mine doesn’t so I’m not familiar with it, looks to be the primary thermostat for zone 1.

I haven’t done it before but maybe look up setting up Zone 2 and the Mitsubishi Wireless Controller as the thermostat.  Might require a Mitsubishi engineer for it, haven’t done it so not sure on the difficulty.

Maybe your wireless controller isn't paired with the receiver attached to your FTC. There are instructions in the installation manual.

Thanks for your replies

I went though the settings menu (on the FTC) and found a Room Sensors option, I went in and it was set to MainRC. There are 2 other options,  TH1 and RC1. So I tried RC1 and it is now working a expected (should not the installer have done this? )
