Ecodan heat pump FTC 7. When heating is on, our water heats up at the same time non-stop. How do I fix it?

I’ll tag a few members who might have some great advice to share! It’s possible that the issue could be related to a control or valve, which an engineer might need to take a look at in person. But let’s see if we can come up with some solutions together first!

Could you share a bit more about your setup? Do you have underfloor heating or a hot water tank? Also, are there any settings that might be affecting things, like a hot water priority mode, or is it set up to work at the same time as your heating? Looking forward to your response!

If the hot water really is 64 deg then unlikely to be a stuck 3 way valve which was my 1st thought. 🤔 

I’m not too familiar with Ecodan, Julia has pointed to a key part to consider.

Normally, the motorised three-way valve switches between hot water and heating, so the only way it can normally be heating both is if the valve is stuck part way open. This might also explain the over temperature as there would be no way to switch hot water off.

I haven’t seen this issue before but a test to check the valve would be to put your hand near the pipes going into the water tank, if they are hot then most likely points to a valve being stuck open.

Curious to know though if you're running a compensation curve for the heating?  I have found that the temp in the rads don’t usually get above 30-35 degrees, so that heat would not be enough to raise the tank from 45 to 64.  

As above. Sounds like a stuck valve so I would target that first.
