If I go with this tariff it states in the summary that OVO will charge car when the grid is at its lowest. What happens if that is let’s say midnight and I need to charge car at 14:00 as I’ve got a long journey this evening?

It’s dead easy - when you plug your car in you set the time you want it charged by and the level you want it to charge to in the app, and the app does the rest.

So if you plug your car in at midnight, and you want it ready at 80% by 5pm the next day, you just put that into the app and then OVO will charge the car at the most cost effective times to ensure it’s ready at 5pm.

I’ve had a couple of occasions where my car wasn’t quite at the level I wanted, but it’s only ever missed by 2-3% maximum so hasn’t made a difference.  If anything does happen, you also always have the option of an ‘urgent’ charge which will charge the car straight away, but then you do pay full whack for that.

Just plug car in and put in when by you want it charged by. It will then charge to that level. It may stop and start depending on when ovo see cheapest time to charge. Main thing is car will be charged to level you have chosen. That's why it is called Charge Anytime.
