OVO charge anytime app 2 to 3 KW short on every charge Vs info from car and charger?

Currently been using the OVO charge anytime system for over six months now. Everything looks to work ok, the schedule charging is controlling the cars well and always charging when needed. However the OVO charge anytime app always seems to be 2 to 3 KW short on every charge Vs the info from the car and the charger shows. 

Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone know where the Anytime app gets it data from to say how many KW it has used to charge the car. 

 

For extra info currently charge a Tesla M3 and PHEV Mini. Both are always out by 2 to 3 KW on the car apps and charger data.

@billyrayuk  I had a really good phone call with the anytime team, I have not got to end of issues yet but was good to hear that they are investigating it and hopefully get some resolution as came up with what could be an issue for one of the cars. 

 

The OVO software on a basic level works out the percentage difference between when you start and stop charging, compared to your usable battery capacity. Using this and some other allowances gives the charge amount. 

We went through the Tesla data and most the time it was less than 5% out.  The Mini PHEV though was 30% out. 

 

If you have access to your car charging data and your charger data compare the two together, I don't have any which give the same figure. This is due to a similar method on the car and charger just doing calculations. 

 

Realistically the best was to get the best results is to ensure you have the app set right, your car has a good connection to the internet before you start charging. Finally you have the car setup correctly for the Anytime App to control it. 

 

When I get any further with the Mini PHEV I will share it.

It might be worth reaching out the Charge Anytime team about this as it’s doing it for both vehicles, it sounds more like an app or system issue rather than the car(s). You can contact the team via email at ovocharge@ovo.com.

      Can I ask what the reply was? I charged my Mecedes for the first time overnight. Plugged in after work 5:30pm. It started charging straight away.

      My charger app shows it added 20.5 kWh before pausing but my car reported receiving 17.3 kWh. 

      It resumed charging at 3am, this time adding 12.2 kWh according to the charger but this time the vehicle reported receiving 8.9 kWh. 

      It’s pretty much the same as your experience where the charging values differ by about 3 kWh each time.

        Thanks for the reply! I’ll keep an eye on the values and make a note in case I need to query it with OVO.
