I have read through some of the forum topics and it is well-documented that Mercedes and Indra/OVO has an as yet unresolved problem, that being the maximum charge level is re-set to 50% by software Gremlins.

I wanted to start a dedicated forum topic about this issue and keep it going until it is resolved, because this is not a minor inconvenience. It would be THE reason for me to not have ordered and signed a finance engagement for a Mercedes EV, or paid over £1000 to OVO for a charger. In my circumstances, charging at home is a key reason to have an EV. Without that, I would go back to a diesel tomorrow.

I will update the thread when Mercedes replies to me by email, now that I have been able to pinpoint the issue for them. So far (before I knew there was a big problem), they have replied quickly but with the generic “reinstall the Mercedes Me app - send fault logs - what phone are you using” etc etc etc.

So, I invite you to write your workarounds (if there are any), your communication with Mercedes and any other useful info on this topic to help other Mercedes EV owners live with this extremely irritating problem.

Hey @Chris78

Thanks for coming on here with that advice, it’s always good to here it coming from community member’s own experiences. As you’ve said, as you’re connecting through a compatible EV you only need to be using the Charge Anytime app and it’ll charge by the ready by time set in the app. Using any other EV or charger app at the same time may cause issues with charging.

For anyone setting up Charge Anytime with a compatible charger instead of EV, this will be different and we’ve got a handy topic all about how to set up a compatible smart charger with Charge Anytime:

Thanks again Chris78 for popping on with that advice, it’s very much appreciated!😊

Unfortunately this is still an issue. I have a brand new EQA with charge anytime linked via the Mercedes App. I have attempted to fully charge my car about 15 times now. The maximum I can get is 50% due to the known "Gremlins". Following so many unsuccessful attempts I then tried to change the maximum discharge on the mercedes app it immediately changes it back to 50% and stops the charge. The only fix I can find is to issue an urgent charge which defeats the point of charge anytime.

Don’t mess with the settings all the time! Just set it to your desired level once and leave it be. This is intentional behaviour right now because of how the integration is forced to work - Mercedes doesn’t exactly have an amazingly elegant way of making this stuff work compared to other EV manufacturers. During an active session, the limit will raise to your preferred level to enable charging to run.

The issue is this aspect is not happening. Just seems to lock in at 50% and remain at that level the following morning. I will try calling the number.
