Question

Kia Ev charging with Alldayenergy

Hi

Has anyone else swapped from using the OvoCharge App to the Kia App to charge their EV as recent email from Ovo requested I do?

Car is charging OK and seems to recognise Alldayenergy but after several charges the Kia App is showing no electricity used under Alldayenergy statistics! My worry is that if this isn't going back to Ovo as EV charging then I won't be charged correctly for usage when bill is calculated.

I've spoken with both Ovo and Kia but am simply being passed from one to another with no one able to resolve or assure me that I'll be charged correctly.

No email received by me but I am wondering if this programme will be for full Kia EVs only and not Kia PHEVs ?

I was hoping to be able to manage charging from 1 app (Kia) only

Hey @AlG

Sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve been having.

I did reach out to the Charge Anytime team directly about this and they did say that as it’s relating to a function within the Kia app rather than OVOs side of the tech integration, the OVO team can’t access Kia’s app side of the integration you will need to speak with Kia support about this.

I have received a message from Kia about this, telling me I should have received an email from OVO.  I haven’t.  Can anyone tell me whether the change is a request or an instruction?  My present arrangement works and I am very reluctant to change.  I would also be interested to know how Kia know that OVO is my energy supplier.  To the best of my recollection I have never told them, so I am left to conclude that OVO must have passed the information to Kia.  If so, I wonder on what authority.

Hey @ianbar

It might be worth checking in with the Charge Anytime team directly to see if you were due this same email. We don’t have access to accounts here at the Forum so we can’t see if this was due.

In regards to the data sharing with your EV manufacturer, if you’ve already signed up with Charge Anytime, as part of the ability to connect with your EV, where necessary we may share relevant data with your EV manufacturer. This is mentioned in the Terms and Conditions in section 7.2.2 which you can find here.

I hope this helps.

Hi Abby, thanks for the reply.  I won’t be chasing this up with Charge Anytime.  I have no interest in switching to the Kia app, which on the basis of  @AIG’s report appears to be unreliable and inadequately supported.  Never buy Version 1.0 of anything is my guideline.  I was trying to establish whether the change was mandatory.  I suspect it is not, but if it turns out to be I will be switching suppliers.  Regarding the data sharing consent, this is limited and for necessary purposes.  I am doubtful that has been observed, but I have asked OVO for an explanation and await their response.

Hi Abby

I’ve spoken with Kia who say everything is fine at their end- time to change to Octopus me thinks.

Not seeking to dissuade you from leaving, but have you thought about reinstalling the Charge Anytime app?
