I hope you’re doing great! I just wanted to touch base and see if the installation is all wrapped up. I'm really eager to hear how everything turned out!

The install went perfectly. The installation guy was a bit hesitant at first about the cables coming in from the rear and rang his office to check it was OK. I again pointed him at the Indra install manual that clearly shows it as an option. To be blunt I'd carefully considered and worked everything out beforehand. If he'd have said no I'd have politely asked him to stop work/leave and taken it up with whoever. As aforementioned the default for installers will always be cables coming in from the bottom. 

The chap then queried that I only had a single Cat-6 running back to the consumer unit at the house (some 37m away) as in 4 pairs isn't enough for both the current transformer and internet.

I gently explained it's fine, blue pair for the CT, green and orange pairs for the internet and brown pair spare. Using green and orange only just limits the speed to 100Mbps.

He even put his tester on the Cat-6 cable and told me I had breaks in it. I guess they're so used to doing things one way. Again I said that's because the brown pair is spare and blue used for the CT. 

The guy was surprised when he fired it up and the internet connection all worked etc. He said people often have work done before he gets there but this was one time when it was all perfect and he'd even learnt something!
