Hi there. Current HV3 Pro user with charge anytime in use (I had the charger installed separately before I switched to the charge anytime (CA) tariff.
I think there may be a misunderstanding with your pricing there - Hypervolt give you a box to tick for with or without installation. Without is £690 and with will still show £690 for the charger but the installation fee is only determined once they’ve checked out your situation (ease of installation etc).
It is likely to work out similar either way. I went to HV direct as I wanted control of that installation myself as I’d previously used HV before and it worked well.
Of course some people will like having it all ‘through one company’.
ultimately you’ll phone HV direct for charger issues anyway … so I’d just go direct if I were doing it again
hope that helps.
Howdy @NI68L !
A quick review of the thread so far suggests you’re not being negative as far as I can tell and it looks like your post is good so you’ve got a thumbs up from me. Please, grab a sofa and let’s chat! You’re more than welcome to grab a drink while you’re at it. :)
You’ll be glad to know that Charge Anytime does not require you to purchase the Charger direct from OVO - you can get it from any source authorised by the manufacturer as long as it’s purchased and installed via an approved route on their side.
With that being said, the direct quote from Hypervolt seems to set Standard Installation as “TBD” at Checkout, so the price you’re seeing there probably doesn’t include that while the OVO price does. You may want to factor that in as you will want a proper installation, trust me on that one!
Thank you both maybe as @scoob198 suggests the price dis not included installation although I ticket the box so presumed the fitting was included but it did warn that they would need to survey. As @Blastoise186 mentions i dod want proper installation so wasn't trying to do this on the cheap, merely at the correct price.
Thank you both. As per my previous questions this goes to prove a great forum for practical advice.

In addition to the great advice given, be aware the quoted OVO price is for a “standard installation” and the detail of what that covers is in the T&Cs.
An installation that deviates from a typical install will almost always involve additional cost no matter who carries out the install.
For example in my case we wanted the CP in a detached garage. That required the old SWA cable underground replacing and a new CU in the garage. Considerable cost!
@oho thanks, i had presume that may be the case. For those that don't know. I got UK Power Networks to do a survey of my existing fuse and incoming cable as I was told by an electrician i would need a 100amp main fuse. Interestingly they quoted £7,000 but if you mention the upgrade is for an EV it's free!! I don't know if that's still the case but it was early 2024.
UKPN still seems to suggest they’ll try to do upgrades to 100A for free provided it’s for a Domestic supply.
Brilliant advice given here by our community members @NI68L!
