How do you know if OVO are getting data from my car charger?

Does anyone know how to find out if OVO is receiving data from my car charger? There used to be a section on the app labelled “ take my ev for a spin” in there you could see what OVO had recorded to date but it has since disappeared. I have asked OVO directly but the person I spoke to did not know and I have also emailed the charge anytime team with the question but have yet to get a reply.
I am particularly interested as ( as I have reported elsewhere on the forum) they have not had any data since the 2nd October due to a change of charger. I have reset this up but want to be sure it is working as it’s worth about £100 a month to me.

Hello @Tim a victim, first is your app up to date?

In the Ovo beyond app (the new one, not the original) touch the black circle in the top right corner.

Under products select EV charger.

Scroll down to the heading “Charge Anytime”

The £ value against “ Your charge anytime charging credit so far this month” should update half hourly while charging.

Excellent, thank you for that, would be good to have something similar for heat pump plus.

Hello @Martinp_uk

You first have to add charge anytime to your account. This has changed since I first registered, perhaps @Blastoise186 can suggest something. It will help if we know your charger and car.

AFAIK this is accurate. It’ll only show if Charge Anytime is active - there’s not really much benefit in showing it saying always zero for those who don’t use it.

Are you sure you’re using the MAIN OVO Energy app and not the old one called OVO Beyond? If you have both, you need to get rid of the OVO Beyond app and just use the main one - the one to keep is the one that tells you your account balance and lets you make payments!

Hi, I’m already registered and using Charge Anytime.  My Charger is a Toyota charger and car is Toyota RAV4 PHEV 2024

My App is called OVO Energy in the app store last updated 14 Nov 24 and shows as OVO Beyond when opened version 19.4.0 I can see my usage, account balance and make extra payments with this app...is there another which I can’t find in the app store?

Hello @Martinp_uk

you are using the correct app. However, unless things have changed, neither the car nor charger are authorised for charge anytime.

As an example I have a Toyota bZ4X that is not suitable so I rely on the Indra charger(authorised) which handles the communication and the car is just set to accept any charge.

Am I eligible?

You can see all eligibility details in our Charge Anytime page here.

  • You must be an OVO Energy customer and have an eligible car or charger. We’re constantly looking to open up the eligibility of this product to more EV models and chargers, so if you don’t see your tech here, keep an eye on our page.
  • Right now, solar panels aren’t compatible with Charge Anytime (unless you have an Indra Pro Smart Charger). But we’re working on making this happen soon.
