FoxESS EV Charger Support

Anyone know how often OVO qualifies additional/new EV chargers? Mine is the L series from FoxESS and while I use it using solar or pay full tariff price I am locked out taking advantage of any of OVO’s EV tariffs.

Hi @BaleGeod

Thanks for coming on here to ask a question. Your best route to find out if new charge points are being added to the list is to email:

ovocharge@ovo.com

They are a very helpful team but you have to remember that the list us probably limited so as not to overstretch the limited resources available to qualify and provide ongoing technical support for those already on the list. Another point to consider is to find out if you car is supported directly with the charge point supplying power all the time.

Please come back here if you want to ask further questions.

Reducing my yearly fossil fuel usage with an EV (-900 litres petrol saving about £950/year), A2AHP (-8,700 kWh gas, cost neutral) and Timed Immersion heater (-1,500 kWh gas, £20/year more expensive but getting less)

Hiya!

Just thought I’d swing by myself.

Unfortunately, that team won’t be able to confirm upcoming support for any Charger or EV not currently listed - they prefer not to get your hopes up only to throw you off a cliff later.

However, if you have a compatible EV, you can set up right now to get some benefit. What vehicle do you have?

I have a 2026 Audi q4 Quattro but the system when trying to see everything up does not allow me to go any further ie as your charger is not supported-tough luck!

Gotcha! In that case have a word with the team - they can help with getting past that.

I have an Audi - actually an S6 but I suspect that all the latest Audis will be similar - with an Ohme charger. So, as in your case, a supported car but unsupported charger. I am currently using CA and have the car set up in it but not the charger. In fact, I believe that the advice is to only have one or the other paired with CA but never both. Ideally, this should be the charger but I can confirm that the "car paired, unsupported charger" works fine with my Audi. I have been using this since April and it has always worked as expected. You do see some apparent oddities, but typically these seem to be down to the status showing in the app being slow to keep up with what is happening. I have set max charge in the app to 90% which allows me to use the car's own max charge setting to control things (usually the recommended 80%).
